“We are excited to announce that ACE Hawaii team of Eda, Daniel, DeZsa, Mari, Johnny, Cailee, Jason and Keaton, based out of Moanalua High School, were one of three national finalists out of over 60 entries from around the country in ACE National Construction Industry Round Table Competition. The team, mentored by Lyle, along with other local engineers, architects and construction professionals, took top spot in the Health Center Design challenge for the reimaging of the War Memorial Natatorium as a health and wellness center, cafeteria and recreation space. They, along with the two winners of other challenges, will travel to Washington DC to present their concepts at the ACE 25thanniversary celebration on May 14, 2019 and vie to take home the top prize. We wish them the best of luck!
Special acknowledgement should go to their STEM teacher, Joanna Kobayashi, for driving the program at Moanalua High School. We hope this success encourages other state high schools to consider the program as part of their STEM curriculum. Contact Lyle or visit www.acementor.org/affiliates/hawaii/ for more information or support the program with valuable sponsorship opportunities.”
