Hurricane Shelter Assessments and Retrofits – Hilo High School, Keeau High School, Waiakea Schools

Five buildings used a existing shelter facilities were structurally evaluated in accordance with the DAGS methodology for performing the assessment report, Scope of Services and Procedure for Structural Assessment of Buildings for Hurricane Shelter Classification. Following a structural assessment, hurricane strengthening of shelter facilities at Hilo High (Building Q), Keaau High School (Building B – Library and Building G – Classroom), and Waiakea (Building G – Cafeteria, Building M -Band) were completed.
